The Kalka-Shimla road is a great piece which shows the amazing work done by the engineers. It was in the year 1903, the work began here, there are 103 tunnels and more than 700 non-girder bridges just in the distance of 96-km. The longest tunnel of this route is at Barog and it is 3,760 feet long. Around two- thirds of the whole track is on curves, and some of them are as sharp as 48 degrees.
The train takes the break at some of the stations namely Dharampur, Jabli, Barog, Salogra, Kandaghat, Solan and Taradevi. The Shivalik Deluxe Express, which is also known as the narrow-gauge Shatabdi, caters to the clientele properly. The Shivalik Deluxe Express was started in the year 1996 in the month of July; this Shivalik Deluxe Express runs regularly nine months during the year and gives lots of pleasure to the passengers.
